In 1918, John Deere entered the tractor business with the purchase of the Waterllo Gasoline Engine Compamy, the maker of Waterloo Boy tractors. This thriving enterprise not only bore the cuty's name, it had also become Waterloo's leading employer. At that time, the factory produced 100 engines and 25 tractors a day. Over the past 90 years, John Deere Waterloo Works has designed and manufactured over 150 different modles of tractors. Today John Deere Waterloo Works produces and sells tractors for as many as 130 countries around the world.
